The Mad Men Edition

Nov 13, 2009

  • Battlefield Mirth Now-55-year-old John Travolta’s going around saying he thinks starring in a remake Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid alongside wacky Scientology buddy Tom Cruise is a good idea. Then Ron L. Hubbard showed up.
  • Faulty Tower Even though he purchased the option back in May, writer/director J.J. Abrams tells MTV that he won’t be adapting Stephen King’s massive Dark Tower magnum opus after all, probably because he realized the ending was such a complete crock. On second thought, maybe Steven Spielberg should take it over.
  • King of the Turds We’ve missed ol’ James Cameron shooting off his mouth, but thankfully he’s back and burning your brain with disturbing images thanks to quotes like this one in Playboy’s December issue about planning to top Avatar: "I haven't decided. I always say that when a woman is in the midst of childbirth, don't ask her if she wants another child. I'm crowning right now."
  • Rambo No Cooks in This Kitchen Comedian Dane Cook, he with the filmography that includes Good Luck Chuck and Employee of the Month, says he’d like to screw up appear in Batman 3 as the Riddler. Let the yucks begin!
  • Fang Men Marti Noxon, writer/producer of many Mad Men episodes (as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel), will make her feature debut writing the remake of Fright Night, the 1985 camp-fest about a kid who finds out his neighbors are vampires. She’s already familiar with bloodsuckers of the corporate kind, so this news gives me hope.
