We've been waiting 25 years for director George Miller to deliver another Mad Max
movie to us, and it looks like we may be waiting another 25 years before we finally get that sequel. Though production on Mad Max: Fury Road
was supposed to begin next month in Australia, word has it things have been significantly delayed ... again.
According to The Australian, the start of production has been delayed from next month till February of 2012, with crew members being asked not to return to the production until late 2011. Additionally, the paper reports that the high Australian dollar may eventually kill the film altogether due to a bulging budget. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron were set to star, and there's no word on whether they'll remain on board with such a significant delay.
Thus, chances are we may actually get to watch the post-apocalyptic sequel in a real-life post-apocalyptic environment (or in one where Mel Gibson's reputation is restored, whichever comes first), which could be a whole lot of fun for your next family theme night!
