There have been a lot of Star Wars games over the years – from the brilliant Knights of the Old Republic to the dreadful Masters of Teras Kasai – but a newly announced title coming from LucasArts has fanboys ready to grab a blaster and set off for a galaxy far, far away.
With the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) right around the corner, LucasArts is prepped to unveil a brand new Star Wars game property – Star Wars 1313. This brand new piece of Star Wars lore doesn’t focus on Jedi or Sith, but instead allows players to become a deadly bounty hunter exploring the expansive 1313. This wretched hive of scum and villainy is located deep beneath the surface of Coruscant. Sounds great so far – we’ve always wanted to play a character like Boba Fett.
The third person action game promises lots of exotic weaponry and fast-paced combat as players explore a “darker and more mature” piece of the Star Wars universe. Specific details are still being kept under wraps, but we'll get our first look at actual gameplay from the title later next week.
Even more intriguing is that Star Wars 1313 could provide fans with an introduction to the world set to be explored in the rumored live-action Star Wars: Underworld series. That story is set to take place between the prequel and original trilogy and won’t focus on major film characters. Instead, it will center on the Empire building its power and a group of criminal bosses who control drugs, crime, and prostitution in an underground world beneath a major capital. Starting to see some similarities yet?
We’ll know more about Star Wars 1313 and perhaps have a better idea of how it might tie into Star Wars: Underworld after next week’s big E3 reveal. Until then, have a peek at this behind-the-scenes look at the game courtesy of GameTrailers. The footage starts at the 1:20 mark.
