There is still the One Ring to rule them all, but there is not one Blu-ray to bind them. All of Middle Earth will want to party like Hobbits at the prospect of getting The Lord of the Rings: The Complete Motion Picture Trilogy on Blu-ray before the end of the year (the box art is already on display on Amazon.com), but don’t crack open the ale just yet. The planned seven-disc set has only the theatrical versions of Peter Jackson’s epic. Word is that fans of the extended versions, which have been available on DVD for some time, might have to wait until The Hobbit is released in 2012 before they see the “precious” extended versions in high definition.
