Welcome to Off Screen, our corner that keeps track of big-screen characters and properties in other media, be they comics, books, TV shows or video games.
Once I began hanging around some younger kids thanks to my own troublemakers arriving in the world, I began to notice kids as young as 3-years-old knowing a whole ton about the Star Wars universe. It didn't take long for other parents to clue me in on how, exactly, kids are learning this much about Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars at such a young age: They're educating themselves on these monster movie franchises through the new Lego games and toys. Now, as those properties continue to prosper thanks to addictive Lego games, Warner Bros. will look to do the same for Lord of the Rings as it gears up to distribute two Hobbit movies.
Not long ago an official Lego line for the Lord of the Rings franchise was announced, and now it appears as if a Lego Lord of the Rings game will be a part of that too. There's been no official confirmation of it, but various sites are reporting that materials found with the new Lego line of toys have confirmed the project, which looks to be arriving later this fall ahead of The Hobbit, due in theaters this December. There will also be a tie-in game for The Hobbit, but that will not be Lego. No images or art is available yet, but we imagine it will cover the three original Lord of the Rings movies. [via GameSpot]
