Look: Quentin Tarantino's Favorite and Least Favorite Movies of 2011

Jan 16, 2012

Whenever Quentin Tarantino unveils his "Best of the Year" list it always reminds us of the similar list Stephen King puts out. There are some titles that make sense, and then others that scream "How many movies did he actually see if THAT made it into his top ten?!" Such is the case this year, with a top eleven list that includes solid picks like Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Skin I Live In, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Attack the Block, and then head-scratchers like The Three Musketeers and Red State. More head-scratchers pop up in his "Others He Liked" list, which includes stinkers like The Hangover Part II, The Sitter, Green Hornet and Green Lantern. And on his "Worst List" he includes a couple good flicks like Insidious and Rampart.

So what does this list say about Quentin Tarantino? That he's not a good judge of movies? That he doesn't see enough to make a worthwhile list? Nah, none of that. All this says is that Tarantino is pretty much like the rest of us -- some films just resonate more with him than others, regardless of what "everyone else" thinks. And that, to us, is the first sign of a balanced movie fan, who isn't swayed by critics lists or awards or any of that other year-end junk. He likes what he likes and that's that.

Check out his list below and let us know what you think. Meanwhile we'll all have a chance to criticize Tarantino's latest effort when Django Unchained hits theaters later this year. [via The Tarantino Archives]
