The 2011 New York International Latino Film Festival may be over (it ran from August 15th through the 21st), but we have a feeling that these funny infographics promoting this year’s event will be popular for quite some time. After all, everyone loves a good infographic in the Internet age – and ones that cleverly highlight film cliches are even better.
Designed by advertising agency Wing New York, the minimalist designs do a great job of pointing out some of our favorite movie tropes. While a few of them are obvious (the bad guys have terrible aim), even the ones that we’ve seen before are presented in an entertaining way. Others, like the chart of phrases that every movie needs, are hilarious all on their own.
Sure, the whole “watch films, not movies – there is a difference” tagline reeks of the kind of pretentiousness that keeps the average movie fan away from film fests in the first place (which is a shame – not all film festival entries are ponderous arthouse flicks…), but we’re willing to cut Wing – and the NYILFF -- some slack on that for coming up with some great infographics poking fun at the art form we all love.
