Hollywood is gearing up for the long Thanksgiving weekend, but we’ve got some exciting new images from two huge upcoming films to share before everyone heads off for a day of football and turkey.
The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly has a feature on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus – complete with pictures that should have Alien fans feeling pretty excited about the project. Scott has played coy about how this film – which began life as a prequel to his classic sci-fi horror flick before morphing into something else – will tie into the original, but these photos show a definite link.

The images highlight a wide range of things fans have been curious about – but what has us most excited is the photo of a long hall with a giant head at the end. If you look at the walls of the hall, you can see a very definite Alien influence. Those who were worried Prometheus would only be tangentially related to Alien should breathe a little easier after seeing these photos. We may not see Xenomorphs running amok, but they appear to have a presence in the film nonetheless.
With Prometheus set to open in June, we expect to see a lot more images and perhaps the first trailer sometime in the not-too-distant future. Until then, enjoy these photos.
-- Prometheus isn’t the only big film on the horizon – there’s a new Bond flick underway too. Website Just Jared has managed to score some photos from the early shooting on Skyfall, all featuring Daniel Craig looking dapper as 007.
There’s no real context for what’s going on in these scenes, and they’re not exactly action-packed, but it’s great to see new Bond pics given that there was a point where it appeared as though this film and the franchise might be dead.
Skyfall reportedly revolves around Bond and M.’s relationship after events from her past resurface. As MI6 is threatened, Bond has to uncover the source – even if stopping the threat comes with a great personal price. We’re intrigued by those details, and will be eagerly awaiting the film’s release next November.
Have a peek at Craig in his Bond get-up, and head over to Just Jared for more shots of everyone’s favorite super-spy.

-- Finally, EW has a cool new pic (and interview with director Andrew Stanton) from the upcoming sci-fi adventure film John Carter. If you like gigantic monsters, this one’s for you. Stanton said this about the monsters -- otherwise known as the White Apes -- to EW: "So what we did is we made the White Apes a formidable creature that you kind of hear about throughout the movie, but you never really witness. There’s a subtle sense of anticipation for what these things might be like. Then Michael Kutsche — who did a lot of the designs on [the Johnny Depp movie] Alice in Wonderland – came up with this design on his own, for just their scale. He made them nocturnal, almost like moles — they stopped using their eyes, and just had a heightened sense of smell. We just love that. We needed a scene where Carter was going have to get out of his execution sentence in order to move the story forward, and we thought what better than having to go up against this formidable creature?"

The film, which is based on an Edgar Rice Burroughs novel, finds the titular character (Taylor Kitsch) transported to Mars – where he gets mixed up in an epic conflict between the inhabitants of the Red Planet and has to save everyone. Willem Dafoe and Lynn Collins co-star. Book your ticket to Mars this March, when the film lands in theaters nationwide.
