'Lone Survivor' Trailer - Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch Dive Deep into the Brotherhood of War

Jul 31, 2013

It's starting to look like director Peter Berg has found quite the niche as a director: movies that make the American military look badass. He flirted with the genre a bit with 2007's The Kingdom, though that one technically features FBI agents as its heroes. Battleship, silly it may be, turned the Navy into a bunch of alien ass kickers. And now he's got Lone Survivor, a script he wrote himself based on the true story of four Navy SEAL members who were tasked with taking out a Taliban leader in 2005.

The trailer for Lone Survivor just hit online and it's aiming dead center at the core of America's love for action movies about its real-life heroes.

Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Eric Bana and Ben Foster star in this dramatization of what happened when a hearty band of brothers found themselves severely outnumbered after a covert mission deep in Afghanistan goes awry. If you love pro-military movies, it looks like this one has it all: inspirational speeches, soldiers facing a crisis of conscience, patriotic soft rock music, and a whole lot of us versus them.

Lone Survivor hits theaters on January 10, 2014.
