Here are some just-announced release dates for you to put on your calendars ...
-- The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp (as Tonto) and Armie Hammer (as the Lone Ranger) will arrive in theaters on December 21st, 2012. Depp will reunite once again with his Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango director, Gore Verbinski, and the film is described as "sort of Don Quixote told from Sancho Panza's point of view," based on what Verbinski told Coming Soon recently. Other films coming out that month include The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and possibly Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.
-- Rian Johnson's time-travel action flick Looper (pictured above) has secured a date of September 28th, 2012, which is a bit later than most expected, so perhaps we'll see it premiere at a festival early next year. The film stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano and Jeff Daniels.
-- Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, The Master, has been given a tentative release of "end of 2012," which makes sense since they'll position it for awards season. The 1950s-set religious drama follows the story of a man, his start-up religion, and the drifter who becomes his right-hand man. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Laura Dern and more star.
-- The Killer Elite (which is a remake of San Pekinpah's 1975 film), starring Jason Statham, Robert De Niro and Clive Owen, will arrive in theaters on September 28th, 2011.
-- Romand Emmerich's Anonymous has moved back a month to October 28th, 2011.
-- Finally, George Clooney's Ides of March (Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti) will hit theaters on October 7th, 2011.
