Listen to Christopher Lee's New Heavy Metal Album 'The Omens of Death'

May 24, 2013

We've been big fans of Christopher Lee's heavy metal music career, and the actor has a new album on the way. Charlemagne: The Omens of Death will be released on May 27 (MP3, CD and vinyl) and is the follow-up to his 2010 album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross. For that project, he was given the Spirit of Metal honor in the 2010 Metal Hammer Golden God awards. The Hammer horror actor and Lord of the Rings favorite is a direct descendant of Charlemagne — a fierce military leader, and former Holy Roman Emperor and King of the Franks.

Lee said of the new musical work: "The first Charlemagne album is metal, of course, but what I sang was more symphonic. Now on the second one, The Omens Of Death, it is 100% heavy metal. I've done my bits and pieces, and they are heavy metal. I'm not screaming or anything like that, but it is definitely heavy metal." Father and son guitar maestros Hedras Ramos Jr. and Sr. join him, along with drummer Ollie Usiskin. Judas Priest's Richie Faulkner arranged the music. The below video features excerpts from the album and a very elegant Lee discussing his interest in metal music and other inspirations. Death and Taxes is streaming the album over here. Hails!
