Listen: Blake Shelton's 'Footloose' Cover

Sep 06, 2011

The 1984 movie Footloose is known for an angsty Kevin Bacon performance, but also for its fantastic 80's-heavy soundtrack featuring songs like "Holding Out For A Hero", "Dancing in the Sheets," "Almost Paradise," "Let's Hear It For The Boy," and, of course, Kenny Loggins' "Footloose." Ever since the 2011 remake was announced, folks have been curious to see how they'd approach the soundtrack. Not long ago we told you all about the upcoming soundtrack, including which current stars would be covering some of those 80's hits, as well as which new tracks we'd be seeing pop up (like stuff from Three 6 Mafia, White Stripes and Cee Lo Green).

Obviously the most talked-about cover has been Blake Shelton's version of "Footloose," and now ahead of the film's October 14th release date we have a first listen for Shelton's "Footloose" cover, which we imagine we'll hear at some point in the film (or in the final dance scene, if they copy the original).

Listen now ...

And here's the original final dance number from the 1984 version ...
