Forbes has released its annual Fictional 15, a list of fiction’s wealthiest characters. Compared to last year, the new group of winners makes an aggregate net worth of $209.5 billion, up 59% from last year.
This year’s number one is Smaug, the dragon from The Hobbit, whose "personal fortune jumped 16% from last year to $62 billion after wyrm watchers crafted a more detailed analysis of his massive hoard of coins, jewels and antiques."
Carlisle Cullen — Twilight's resident doctor, played by Peter Facinelli in the film series — ranks at $36.3 billion thanks to several smart investments that stretch back to the 17th century. Playboy billionaire and engineering genius Tony Stark pulled in $9.3 billion, which is something the number ten person on our list would probably like a piece of.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Lisbeth Salander made $2.4 billion the old fashioned way: stealing it. She's one of the new faces on Forbes' list that requires all candidates to be an authored fictional creation known for their wealthy status. Of course, many of these characters have made the jump from page to screen with their billions following closely behind.
