The first sign that the summer movie season is over? You see flicks like Shark Night and Apollo 18 jockeying for third place at the box office. The second sign? Trailers just like the one embedded below: it's for Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, which stars a disconcertingly brown-eyed Leonardo DiCaprio as the world-famous crimefighter. And since this looks to be a grade-A Oscar Movie all the way, you can of course expect lots of pedigree here.
Written by Dustin Lance Black (Milk) and produced by the Imagine team of Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, this handsome-looking biopic co-stars Naomi Watts, Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas, Judi Dench, Stephen Root, and ... Lea Thompson! How cool! That piece of casting should get a few movie geeks into the audience. The file on J. Edgar opens on November 9.
Personally, I've been pretty disappointed in Mr. Eastwood's recent films, but the man has more than earned a few strikes by this point. Mr. Black's involvement certainly bodes well for the overall project. And, again, Lea Thompson is in it.
