It's not the Justice League film ... yet, but Warner Brothers is already busy stuffing Batman and Superman into another one of their upcoming movies, Lego: The Piece of Resistance. This is that live-action/animation hybrid movie that'll be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street), due out on February 28, 2014. Not only do we now have a title for Lego's big-screen debut, but we have a plot and news that Batman and Superman -- characters who are not-so-coincidentally featured in the new Batman 2 Lego game -- will appear in the movie as well, with Will Arnett voicing Batman and Channing Tatum being chased to voice Superman.
Variety tells us the film will follow "an ordinary, law-abiding, rules-following, perfectly average Lego mini-figure (voiced by Chris Pratt) who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He's drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared."
No word yet on additional casting and/or whether Lego plans to use more characters from the DC Comics universe. They can if they want since Warner Bros. announced last year that as part of an expanded relationship with Lego, they were given access to the entire DC Comics library. Regardless, the inclusion of Batman and Superman means, at the very least, that this will be Lego's own "mash-up" film, with (we imagine) several other popular Lego characters making appearances as well.
Which other Lego characters would you like to see pop up in the film?
