Lawless, the new movie from director John Hillcoat (The Proposition, The Road), hits theaters on August 29th, but there's no need to wait that long to get a taste of the film's world; a mid-1920s Franklin County, Virginia in the thrall of prohibition and all the wild, law-hating characters it brings out of the wood work. The Weinstein Company has put together a website dedicated to the film, and it offers all kinds of fun goodies befitting the spirit of a movie starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, and a whole mess of bullets, blood and booze.
Check out the new features on the site, Lawless-Film.com:
The official Lawless film website captures the grit and atmosphere of Franklin County, Virginia in the mid-1920s when alcohol was banned and The Bondurant brothers (un)beknownst to the law, supplied the town with moonshine. In addition to presenting content about the film and its characters, the site lets hopeful outlaws find out if they have what it takes to be a bootlegger in two challenges modeled after the film:
Brass Knuckle Beatdown pits you in a down-and-dirty brawl in the Bondurant brothers' own bar. Dodge and fight your way to victory, softening up your opponent until he's dazed. Then, put on a pair of brass knuckles and teach him why the Bondurants are known across all of Franklin County. In these real life video games you can test your ability to become a Bondurant.
In Locked & Loaded, grab ahold of the baddest automatic weapon all time – the Thompson submachine gun – in a shootout at the center of town. As a rum-running kingpin, you'll take on the ATU in a fight for your freedom, and your life.
Whether you're a fan of the Bondurants or just fighting the law, you're bound to enjoy getting your hands dirty and sometimes bloody in this interactive experience.
