When word came down awhile back that director James Cameron planned to re-release Titanic with retrofitted 3D, the jury was out: why go back and fool with your multiple Oscar winner that remains second only to--well, your own Avatar?
But actually, it turns out the $18 million and year-plus it took to apply the conversion enhanced the movie enough to impress most jaded critics, who are saying the 3D adds the illusion of depth without being overly excessive. Meaning, no, you won't see pieces of the boat flying out to take your head off.
You can judge for yourself with a pair of tickets to see Titanic 3D, preceded by a Q&A with James Cameron himself, on the giant screen at the luxe Regal E-Walk 13 RPX in Times Square tomorrow night (April 11) at 7:10 p.m. If you happen to be in New York City (sorry, we aren't providing transportation, just five pairs of tickets), enter below and comment using a valid email: Tell us, what do you love most about Titanic? Winners will be notified via email.
