'Machete Kills' Gets More Insane as It Adds Lady Gaga, Plus a Few Early Details

Jul 26, 2012

Lady Gaga Machete KillsAs if the title alone didn't seal the deal, Machete Kills is getting more and more ridiculous with every bit of news. Robert Rodriguez' second entry in his Danny Trejo-led franchise about a badass, no-texting Mexican constantly backed into a corner by people trying to take advantage of him already had a pretty crazy (in a great way) cast, but it just got even better.

Lady Gaga is now joining the likes of Charlie Sheen (the president of the United States of America), Mel Gibson (a billionaire arms dealer), Demian Bichir, William Sadler, Marko Zaror, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, returning players Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez, and even more still in hiding.

Robert Rodriguez outed Gaga's casting directly on Twitter, sharing this image of her character, La Chameleon. It just so happens that Movies.com was on the set of Machete Kills yesterday, and while we'll save our full set report until closer toward the film's release next year, we can say this: It's shaping up to be one of the craziest movies of 2013. The things they have in store, both plot and character wise, are surely going to win over plenty of fans (it's in the vein of an '80s buddy-cop-type pairing for Trejo and Bichir). The scale of this movie is absolutely massive compared to the first film, and we can't wait to see what else Rodriguez has in store.

Worth noting for context of this picture of Lady Gaga, Rodriguez himself has been taking pictures of his entire cast in character and presenting them with his favorite photo when they wrap. We were lucky enough to see William Sadler wrap filming yesterday and saw his photo, which was in the same vein as this, so presumably the photo Rodriguez tweeted isn't an official and final poster for the film, it's simply Gaga's wrap present.

Also worth noting, Gaga's character wasn't the only one revealed on Twitter this week. Alexa Vega also tweeted a picture of her character for the film, showing she's grown up just a bit since her Spy Kids days.
