Kid Cudi May Join New 'Ninja Turtles' Movie, Plus Here's What the Turtles Look Like in 2012

Apr 10, 2012

Now that the first round of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle controversy seems to be behind us, leaving fans with a slightly bitter taste in their mouths after it was announced that producer Michael Bay would be focusing more on the Turtles' alien roots while also shortening the title to Ninja Turtles, we're forging ahead and looking forward to the new names and faces featured in the planned 2013 live-action movie. A new hint regarding casting -- as well as what the Turtles might look like in their new live-action form -- arrived via Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi (How to Make It in America), who apparently met with the Platinum Dunes folks regarding the upcoming film.

While Cudi doesn't come right out and say he's in it (possibly voicing one of the Turtles), he did drop a few hints on his Tumblr and Twitter alluding to just that. "To everyone with doubts & concerns about the new TMNT reboot, trust me, there is NOTHING to worry about," Cudi said on Twitter, adding, "Trust. Everyone will be pleased!" He then posted an image on Tumblr that TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman drew, noting, "An original one of a kind sketch of a unknown Ninja Turtle by one half of the creators, Kevin Eastman. A gift given to me by my homies Andrew Form and Brad Fuller over at Platinum Dunes. Hint hint mane."

Eastman is heavily involved in the live-action film, and while this image may or may not have anything to do with the film, it does give us a hint at where Eastman's TMNT brain is at in 2012. Will the Turtles come equipped with a lot of mechanized armor in the new film, utilizing more weapons than just their fists?

No word on who Cudi might be playing (or voicing), though this image sort of looks like something Raphael would get himself all wrapped up in. What do you think? Is this our first glimpse at the new-look Ninja Turtles? [via CBM]
