Everly: Salma Hayek, who has taken a lower profile with supporting roles the past few years, leaps back to the forefront as the star of the upcoming action thriller Everly directed by Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom). Hayek must defeat "waves of assassins" sent by her former lover, a mob boss, while defending her mother and daughter. The first official photo convinces us that her former lover made a big mistake. The movie just wrapped production in Serbia, so we're hoping it will be out next year.
The Jungle Book: This summer we heard that Disney planned a new version of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, and now it appears that Jon Favreau is in negotiations to direct. Favreau, who helmed the first two Iron Man movies, says "the hope is to relaunch a family brand with certain mythic elements… [with] action elements and visual effects," which sounds like a combination of Disney's 1967 animated and 1994 live-action versions. Harry and the Butler: The ever-popular Samuel L. Jackson will play a New Orleans mechanic/musician who strikes it rich and hires Michael Caine as his very proper butler in Harry and the Butler. Caine, of course, has experience as Alfred the Butler in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. Stage veteran George C. Wolfe will direct the comedy drama. [The Hollywood Reporter]
The Truth About Emanuel Trailer: A 17-year-old girl (Kaya Scodelario) still feels responsible for the death of her mother during childbirth, which becomes an issue when she starts to babysit the newborn child of neighboring single mother Jessica Biel in The Truth About Emanuel. Alfred Molina also stars; the eerie movie is due out on January 14, 2014. [Coming Soon]
