Remember those moments from your childhood when you were scared of the dark and had nightmares about monsters under the bed? Photographer Joshua Hoffine doesn't want you to forget the strange things that go bump in the night. He stages elaborate, horrific scenes using practical effects that recall the most terrifying moments of your youth, toying with scale and perspective to make viewers feel vulnerable.
Amusingly, Hoffine uses his own daughters as models for his work. "They are always very excited to be a part of it. They are exceedingly proud," he shared in an interview with us previously. When we last checked in with Hoffine, he told us his favorite horror film was Martyrs, and that he was working on his own movie — a short film called Black Lullaby. We hope to catch a glimpse of it soon.
Check out Hoffine's website for more great photos of zombie assaults, big bad wolves, and monsters in the closet. P.S. Is it Halloween yet? [h/t Huffington Post]
