Josh Brolin

Continuing its dominance at the box office, Avengers: Infinity War earned more than $112.4 million this past weekend. Worldwide, it's now crossed the $1 billion mark, topping that figure in a record 11 days.

Beyond the box office returns, however, what's jumped out at most people who have seen the movie is the assured performance by Josh Brolin as Thanos. He's a villainous character, but he's also given some unexpected depth. We understand his motivations, even if we find him to be absolutely monstrous.

Brolin has impressed in a wide variety of roles over the years. He made his screen debut in fan favorite Goonies back in 1985 and has steadily built his reputation from there. In more recent years, he stood out in No Country for Old Men; Milk, earning an Academy Award nomination; True Grit; Inherent Vice; and Hail, Caesar!, among many others. When can we see him on the big screen again?

Deadpool 2

We don't have to wait long! In the highly-anticipated sequel to Deadpool, Brolin will portray Nathan Summers, better known as Cable. In the Marvel comic book universe, Cable is a cybernetic mutant soldier who has often teamed up with Deadpool.

In the film, they appear to have an initially adversarial relationship. Brolin has already signed up for three more installments of the series, so if that all works out, this may serve only as an introduction to his character, as the actor has suggested. Deadpool 2 will open in theaters on May 18.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado

The sequel to the popular and critical hit Sicario will see Brolin's character, Matt Graver, let loose on a mission that promises to be even more deadly. The original film saw him as a shadowy government agent operating outside the boundaries of the law.

In the new film, Graver argues successfully that with Mexican cartels growing ever more powerful, the U.S. government must likewise fight with greater lethal force. Once again, he teams up with Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), but this time things go haywire on an epic scale. The crime thriller will detonate in theaters on June 29.

Avengers 4

As we anticipate the conclusion of the saga featuring the Avengers as we know them, we also wonder what happens to Thanos. Will he continue to be the most powerful villain in the universe?

Whatever happens, we're sure that Brolin will bring him to life with a confident swagger. The action-adventure will open in theaters on May 3, 2019.
