Hosting an event for his collaborative content website HitRECord in Seattle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt took the opportunity to perform a song that he doesn't own the intellectual rights to, but simply had to play because he was in Seattle: Nirvana's Lithium. Why whether he has the intellectual rights or not is important is because these events that HitRECord hosts are so users of the site and members of the community can all come together in one place on one night and create different forms of art that are then collected and played with via the website, with the intentions (in some cases) of eventually distributing it and making money off it. It's a fun idea, and it's great to see Gordon-Levitt still plowing forward with it after launching the website a couple years ago.
Check out the video below. You'll next be able to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt star in 50/50, due out on September 30th. For more on 50/50, check out our interview with its director, Jonathan Levine.
