“This test was set up to demonstrate the stability and precision of Volvo Dynamic Steering,” this commercial for the automotive company tells us. It seems they forgot to add, “And that Jean-Claude Van Damme keeps getting better with age like expensive, stinky cheese.”
Despite what you might think about GoDaddy’s politics, it’s hard to deny that its new ad campaign featuring the “Muscles from Brussels" is genius. You can watch one of those commercials here if you don’t know what I’m talking about. This similarly inspired Volvo ad also features JCVD doing one of his epic splits, which serve to remind us that he can most definitely kill a man with his thighs. Two giant Volvo trucks drive backwards while the action star balances atop the side mirrors. The vehicles slowly part, and minds are blown. There’s also a behind-the-scenes clip that shows Van Damme discussing the stunt with a technician for Volvo Trucks if you’re into that sort of thing.
The best part about the ad? Someone set the whole stunt to Enya’s “Only Time,” which rounds out the absurdity and WTFness of the whole thing with a knowing wink. Enjoy!
