Welcome to Jaws Week! When it was announced that Steven Spielberg's Jaws was arriving on Blu-ray right smack in the middle of a bustling summer movie season, we thought it'd be perfect to dedicate an entire week to the movie that created the summer blockbuster to begin with. Every day this week we'll be posting an assortment of really fun features tied to the film, its production, its legacy, its fans, its merchandise and so much more.

One of the most popular behind-the-scenes images from the movie Jaws is this one, featuring a young, gutsy Steven Spielberg playing around inside the mouth of a monster that would give him tremendous amounts of grief and also the keys to one of cinema's most successful careers behind the camera.
Spielberg couldn't stand this shark while filming because it never worked, notoriously referring to it as "The Great White Turd" during production. But the beast did have a real name that Spielberg gave it: Bruce, which was the name of the director's lawyer at the time. Here's a great little video on the shark and the many challenges it presented during production.
