Last month we did a full-on Jaws Week at Movies.com in honor of the film's arrival on Blu-ray (and oh what a Blu-ray it is), but we still haven't stopped obsessing over Steven Spielberg's classic. It's kind of hard to do so considering A, it's so very, very good, and B, other film fans keep enabling our addiction. The latest to do so is Titan Books, who have recently released a 312-page, expanded second edition of one of their finest making-of books ever (and trust us, they've put out the best of the best on that front), Jaws: Memories from Martha's Vineyard.
And hey, what's this here? Why, it's a giveaway of Jaws: Memories from Martha's Vineyard! What a coincidence!
Titan has given us two copies of the massive tome to pass along to readers free of charge. And if you're a Jaws fanatic, you will want this beauty anchoring down your coffee table. And we do mean anchoring. We don't have a scale on hand, but we're pretty sure this thing weighs about 200 pounds, so even if you don't like Jaws (who are you?!?!), you can use this book as a weapon to fend off all the people who want it for themselves.
To win, just leave a comment below with a valid email address by Friday, September 28. If you're randomly selected, we'll be in touch. Sorry, U.S. residents only (seriously, we're not kidding about this thing's size; we can't just ship it anywhere).
From the press release:
The filming of the blockbuster film Jaws is regarded as a landmark event in both the history of motion pictures and of the quaint New England island of Martha’s Vineyard. To facilitate the filming, hundreds of locals were hired to work as actors and labourers and among these participants there were numerous professional and amateur photographers – with full access to the production’s inner workings.
For the first time ever, these behind-the-scenes photographs and stories have been compiled into one treasure trove of a book! With a foreword by director Steven Spielberg, interviews with production designer Joe Alves, screenwriter Carl Gottlieb, location casting director Shari Rhodes and much more, this fantastic book provides an unprecedented all-access pass to the creation of some of the most memorable and terrifying scenes in film history!
Included in this new, expanded edition: 16 brand-new pages of never-before-seen Jaws rarities, including additional storyboards from Production Designer Joe Alves, more behind-the-scenes photographs from the private collections of local crewmembers… stories, props, anecdotes. If you thought the first edition was big, you’re DEFINITELY going to need a bigger bookcase now!
