Jason Bateman is Ready to Say 'Bad Words' in His Feature Film Directing Debut

Actor Jason Bateman is preparing to get behind the camera with his feature film directorial debut – the recently announced comedy Bad Words.

Based on an Andrew Dodge script that appeared on the 2011 Black List of best unproduced screenplays circulating in Hollywood, Bad Words is about a “bitter thirtysomething who uses a loophole in the system to enter a national kids' spelling bee.” Bateman appears likely to pull double duty on the feature – both directing and starring.

While this project marks the performer’s first feature film directing gig, it’s not his first time behind the camera. Bateman’s previous credits include episodes of Valerie’s Family, Arrested Development, and Family Matters. The actor’s Aggregate Films production company will produce with an assist from Darko Films, who will handle financing.
