Halloween

Earlier this year, we heard that Danny McBride and David Gordon Green had been tapped to create a new version of Halloween. Now comes word that Jamie Lee Curtis will star as the character she first played in John Carpenter's original horror thriller.

Curtis will reprise "her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago," according to an official statement. "Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs."

As for Curtis, she appeared as Laurie Strode in the first two Halloween movies, returning for Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) and appearing again in Halloween: Resurrection (2002). More recently, she's become known for her role on TV's Scream Queens.

Carpenter will serve as executive producer and creative consultant. When we first heard about Green and McBride's involvement, Carpenter shared his initial response to their vision for the movie: "WOW. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away."

McBride, known for his comic performances in movies like Your Highness and HBO's series Vice Principals, reassured fans: "David and I are thrilled to step outside of our comedic collaborations and dive into a dark and vicious horror. Nobody will be laughing.”

Universal Pictures will release Halloween on Friday, October 19, 2018.
