Jamie Lee Curtis to Make Her First -- and Last -- Horror Convention Appearance

Jul 06, 2012

Jamie Lee Curtis in HalloweenA lot of big name actors appeared in horror movies early in their careers – and a lot of those big name actors do their best to forget that they ever had parts in those films when they finally make it to the A-list. Not Jamie Lee Curtis, though – the young actress, who got her big break as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s classic chiller Halloween and went on to become a bonafide Scream Queen, has been more than happy to talk about her horror roots in recent years. Now, she’s about to venture into new territory – her first ever appearance at a horror convention.

Curtis will headline the annual Horrorhound Weekend in Indianapolis on November 16th through the 18th. Attendees will be able to have their memorabilia signed (grab up all the Activia Yogurt you can find!) and get their picture taken with the actress. Naturally, this won’t be free – the seedy underbelly of the convention industry is that participants often charge attendees (occasionally exorbitant amounts) for the privilege of signing their stuff or posing for photos – but in Curtis’ case, it’s all for a good cause. All proceeds from her events will go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Aside from the signings and photo ops, Curtis will also take part in an onstage Q&A panel that the Horrorhound folks promise will be “epic.”

Marketing hyperbole would call this a “once in a lifetime event,” but in this case, it appears to be true. While this is Curtis’ first horror convention appearance, she promises it will also be her last. So, if you’ve been hankering to spend some time with Laurie Strode, you’d better make plans to be in Indianapolis this November.

You can find out more about the Horrorhound Weekend at their official website. Autograph tickets for Curtis’ sessions will be sold through the site in advance so attendees planning to travel for the sole purpose of meeting her will know ahead of time if that’s going to happen.
