Here comes Star Trek Into Darkness! With the film in theaters this weekend, J.J. Abrams is making the promotional rounds -- stopping last night in New York City for an extended interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, where the two spend a majority of their time debating the merits of Star Wars versus Star Trek, with Stewart shaming Abrams after he admits to never really "getting" Star Trek. "I made a movie for moviegoers, not Star Trek fans," Abrams says, revealing later that it wasn't until he began making these movies that he fell in love with the franchise.
Here's the first part of his interview where the two basically spend the entire time debating Star Wars versus Star Trek.
And here's the extended Web-only part of the interview that's actually better in our opinion since it delves into lots of other things, including Star Wars, Jon Stewart's directorial debut, Abrams' TV shows, a hilarious Death to Smoochy story and more.
