It's a Wonderful Gift Set

It's a Wonderful Gift Set

Sep 02, 2009

It’s barely September but studios already have visions of Christmas dancing in their heads. They have to—there is a lot of competition for your hard-earned dollars out there this holiday season. To get your attention, the majors are thinking outside the (gift) box to figure out ways to make their disc packaging more enticing—Blu-ray Bob has seen collectible books, stuffed animals and even a replica of the starship Enterprise paired with discs. The DVD gift set of It’s a Wonderful Life, available on November 3 from Paramount, comes in a handsome shadow box and has “Mom and Dad” written all over it. If your folks are a little more high tech, the fully restored movie also makes its Blu-ray debut on the same day. Both formats contain the original black-and-white and colorized versions of director Frank Capra’s holiday classic, as well as “The Making of It’s a Wonderful Life” hosted by Tom Bosley, a tribute to the director hosted by his son, Frank Capra Jr., and the original theatrical trailer. Can Paramount pack a universal healthcare plan in there, too? Just asking.
