After teasing it in increments, Marvel Studios has just dropped the full first trailer for Iron Man 3 and it looks... heavy. Of course, billionaire/playboy/philanthropist Tony Stark has gone to quite a few dark places in the comics, but they've stayed somewhat out of the picture on the big screen. Iron Man 3, however, is tackling the darker side of being a superhero head on.
This first trailer is a sad affair indeed. Oh, the movie doesn't look pathetic by any means, but this is certainly setting up a more somber film than either of Jon Favreau's entries, and is definitely breaking from the fun, joke-packing The Avengers. We think new series director Shane Black (Lethal Weapon; Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang) will certainly pull off the highs and lows of Tony Stark's journey just fine, but we imagine that this is the kind of trailer that's going to have a lot of younger Marvel fans wondering where their wisecracking Iron Man went.
Check it out and please let us know what you think of it below.
