'The Interview' Trailer and Poster: James Franco and Seth Rogen Assassinate North Korea

The Interview

Can the brand of raunchy, irreverent comedy practiced by James Franco and Seth Rogen translate internationally -- even into North Korea? The first trailer for The Interview says… yes!

Franco and Rogen play the host and producer, respectively, of a television tabloid show that lands a rare interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. (He's a fan of the show.) Their intention is to demonstrate that they're serious journalists; instead, they find themselves recruited by the CIA to assassinate Kim.

The movie is the second directing effort by Rogen and Seth Goldberg, who previously teamed on last year's apocalyptic comedy This Is the End; after destroying the world, the prospect of killing a top government official probably doesn't seem too daunting. Mixing politics with comedy is always a dicey proposition, but we're eager to see an action comedy from this group of collaborators. Franco and Rogen have worked together multiple times, and they were particularly good when they were teamed for 2008's Pineapple Express. We trust that their chemistry is intact for this one.

We have a look at the wildly colorful first poster, too. Check it all out below. Have they gone too far? The movie opens on October 10.
