Here's something to be thankful for this week if you're a Christopher Nolan fan. According to our friends at The Film Stage, the first trailer for Nolan's next film will drop alongside The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug when it hits theaters on December 13. And this ain't just a short teaser for Nolan's Interstellar either -- it's a full-on trailer that runs one minute and 43 seconds long.
Due in theaters on November 7, 2014, the sci-fi blockbuster will follow Inception in being the second film to come from Nolan since the director catapulted to superstardom status following the launch of his Batman trilogy, which concluded with The Dark Knight Rises last year. We don't know a ton about Interstellar, aside from the fact that it follows a group of explorers who discover a wormhole that allows them to travel farther into space than ever before. Recent rumors suggest the reason for the exploration has to do with a crop famine brought about by climate change, and the need for additional resources. Perhaps this new trailer will offer more details.
Interstellar, like Nolan's other recent features (Batman included), is just stacked with stars. We're talking Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow and more. Last we heard, Nolan was strapping IMAX cameras to the nose of a Learjet, so expect the filmmaker to once again push the boundaries of what (and how much) you can capture with IMAX cameras.
And to hold you over till this trailer arrives online (and in theaters), here's a pretty cool five-minute video where Nolan discusses how artwork influences his creative decisions, also courtesy of the Film Stage.
