These days things are getting complicated. Disney just purchased LucasFilm, but 20th Century Fox still owns rights to the original trilogy. Disney aquired Marvel, but other studios -- like 20th Century Fox and Sony -- own the movie rights for characters such as X-Men and Spider-Man, respectively.
