In celebration of the Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures
Blu-ray set, releasing tomorrow, we nabbed the opportunity to sit down with Karen Allen
- Indy's iconic smart, spunky, adventurous love interest Marion Ravenwood. Allen is every bit the vivacious and energetic spirit we fell in love with in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark
, as evidenced when she reprised her role in 2008's Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
We talked with Allen starring in two of the four Indy franchise films, but most pressing on our list of questions was whether or not there's a fifth Indiana Jones movie in her future. Turns out, the whole team - director Steven Spielberg, star Harrison Ford and Allen - is up for it, they're just waiting on a certain writer-producer. Here's what Allen had to say about Indiana Jones 5 - look for the rest of our interview with her tomorrow!
Movies.com: What about a fifth Indy movie? Would you be game for that?
Karen Allen: I would! And I, in fact, just talked with Steven Spielberg recently - we e-mailed back and forth, and I said, "What should I say? I'm doing this publicity, what should I say if people ask me that question?" And he said, "It's in George's [Lucas] hands! I'm game, Harrison's game, and now it's up to George to write the script or to get the script organized, and the story." And so I think it's - they want to do a fifth, from what I understand, but they don't want to do it just to do it, they want to do it if they can come up with a story that everybody is happy with and that everybody likes.
