I'm so intrigued by M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth because Will Smith chooses his projects very carefully. Especially the projects he stars in alongside his son. To see him go with M. Night Shyamalan for this movie when he's largely criticized and hot off a summer bomb (The Last Airbender) was just intriguing. It was risky, and I dig that. Now that the film -- which tracks a father and son exploring a desolate earth 1,000 years in the future -- has gone into production in Costa Rica, Shyamalan and Smith have gone straight to social media to begin sharing their experience with the world. It seems like there's a lot of excitement from them about this project, and hopefully that shows up on the screen. Two very different track records, but still a team with a lot of talent.
The first images of the film are coming from them, with the star and filmmaker sharing behind-the-scenes stills and videos via Facebook, Twitter and WhoSay. Check out a visibly old-looking Will Smith and a much-older-than-Karate-Kid-lookin' Jaden Smith in the two images below, courtesy of Smith's Facebook. And you can follow M. Night Shyamalan on Twitter right here to see the stuff he's been sharing.
After Earth hits theaters on June 3, 2013.
