As card-carrying members of the cult of Cronenberg, we’re not only excited to see the director’s newest film, A Dangerous Method, but to also check out the debut feature from his son – the upcoming film Antiviral.
Our friends at Twitch have an image from the film (pictured above), and judging from what we see, it looks like Brandon Cronenberg shares a lot of interests with his dad. Guess the apple really doesn’t fall from the tree – which is a fantastic thing, in this case.
Check out the plot synopsis if you don’t believe us – this sounds exactly like the kind of film the elder Cronenberg would have made back in his “body mutation” heyday.
Antiviral stars Caleb Landry Jones with Sarah Gadon and Malcolm McDowell co-starring. Principal photography is set to wrap on December 11th, but no release date has been set.
Let us know what you think of the pic and the premise below. Personally, we can’t wait to see this one for ourselves.
Antiviral follows Syd March, an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Biological communion - for a price. Syd also supplies illegal samples of these viruses to piracy groups, smuggling them from the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills super sensation Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and rabid fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding her death before he suffers the same fate.
