Even though Steven Spielberg has been busy filming his long-awaited Abraham Lincoln movie in Virginia, we haven't seen any photos from the set hit the internets yet. Do people not care about our 16th President unless he's fighting vampires? That has changed today, though, as Richmond.com, via The Film Stage (and @UVAMichael) have snagged a first look at Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, albeit a more modern Lincoln who's taking a break from filming in order to have a little lunch in a local cafe. This Lincoln is wearing jeans and a sweater, but if you look past the clothing (which won't be in the movie), you'll see that familiar Lincoln face, and, yeah, you try not to get excited about this one. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, Sally Field, Jackie Earle Haley, and Michael Stuhlberg co-star in what's sure to be an Oscar contender come 2013.
Is Daniel Day-Lewis an automatic lock for Best Actor in 2013? Could Spielberg win back-to-back Best Picture awards (with War Horse gaining momentum prior to its debut this holiday season)? We'll find out when Lincoln hits theaters around this time next year.
What do you think of Day-Lewis as Lincoln?
