If you caught the previous Toy Story short in front of Cars 2, then you're already well aware that Pixar has spun off their beloved Toy Story franchise into a series of shorts that have been debuting before some of their more popular Disney/Pixar toons. The latest short, Small Fry, will arrive in theaters this November 23rd before The Muppets, and it will detail what happens when Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is kidnapped by a fast-food-toy version of Buzz that's looking to take over his life.
From USA Today: "Blame it all on toy envy as a Happy Meal-type toy at a fast-food restaurant yearns to break out of his display case to play like a real toy. He kidnaps Buzz Lightyear in an attempt to take over his play-filled existence." Writer-director Angus MacLane (who also voices several discarded mini-toys) adds, "It's like the Prince and the Pauper tale for toys. These toys' existence is about being really popular before the meal and then being totally forgotten about," MacLane says. "And sometimes they don't even get played with." Aside from the usual Toy Story regulars (Allen, Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack and John Ratzenberger), Jane Lynch will make her Pixar debut as a "narcissistic support-group leader" named Neptuna.
The full 7-minute short will be in theaters with The Muppets, but until then, this clip is just a taste of it:
