Whether you loved the first The Hunger Games or not, it's hard to argue that the franchise got a big bump in quality between the first movie and last year's Catching Fire. Naturally the sequel had a bigger budget (about $52 million more) to better flesh out the destitute, violent world Katniss Everdeen lives in, but it also brought in director Francis Lawrence, who has a real eye for spectacle, action and casting. Thankfully he's sticking around to direct the last two films in the series, and today we got our first look at some of the things to look forward to in the next entry, Mockingjay--Part 1.
The two biggest reveals of the day are the new poster and the first image of the always-great Julianne Moore as President Alma Coin. In the above shot you can see her alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman's Plutarch Heavensbee (he shot most of his role before his death), and below is a more direct shot of the actress in costume. And if you're a huge Hunger Games fan, you can head to this site to see a very short glimpse of her in motion.
Check her out, as well as a few other new images from the set of the highly anticipated movie.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay--Part 1 hits theaters on November 21, 2014.
