Any hot, young female actress on the rise typically has a generic horror movie in their closet just waiting to come out. Earlier this year we got a look at Elizabeth Olsen creeping through her Silent House, and now later this year we'll get Jennifer Lawrence creeping through the House at the End of the Street.
Judging from the trailer (which MTV debuted) alone, House looks on the level your average straight-to-video horror movie these days. Director Mark Tonderai (Hush) was just fortunate to cast Lawrence before she even started production on The Hunger Games, and now that the latter's out and has proven to be box office gold, it gives distributor Relativity Media a huge leg up when they finally drop this into theaters September 21, 2012. We don't mean to come off so cynical about it - trust us, we love horror movies - but considering this was written by David Loucka, the writer behind Dream House, one of last year's worst horror movies, we're not hugely optimistic.
Still, we're Jennifer Lawrence fans on this end, so we are curious to see what's in store beyond this trailer, which basically combines the "rewind time" gimmick of the Straw Dogs remake trailer with the homicidal real estate woes of Dream House.
