Horror anthologies are back! Not only do we have the upcoming ABCs of Death to look forward to, but now we have another long-gestating collection of mini-horror madness that's worth talking about. Entitled V/H/S, the flick will bring together all sorts of folks we know and love from the indie / horror biz: Adam Wingard (You're Next), Ti West (The Innkeepers), Adam Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Silver Bullets), Glen McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), a few guys I don't know much about (yet) called Chad Villella and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and the reliable horror banner known as "Bloody Disgusting." BD's own Brad Miska will serve as a producer on V/H/S/, and of course we wish our colleague many successes.
Thanks to the L.A. Times, we know this much about the multi-taled horror project: V/H/S/ is "a found-footage film about oddballs who burglarize a country house only to find tape filled with cryptic video. Wingard's piece is the wraparound segment that ties all the others together." Even ignoring the aforementioned filmmakers, this concept sounds like it has some very cool potential. (Although not mentioned in the L.A. Times piece, we know that the prolific (and award-winning!) genre screenwriter Simon Barrett is also involved on this film.)
This may be the first foray into production for the team of Bloody-Disgusting and The Collective, but they've certainly been busy on the distribution end: in recent months they've introduced titles like Yellowbrickroad, Cold Fish, Atrocious, Phase 7, and Rammbock (Berlin Undead), and this weekend they present Lucky McKee and Jack Ketchum's The Woman. That's a pretty solid track record for a newbie distributor.
More on V/H/S as it pops up.
