Our friends at Film School Rejects have been at it again with this Exorcist trailer that's been recut to look like a 1980s sitcom. Since the bloody crab-walk scene still terrifies us, the fact that they managed to make us laugh when it pops up during the intro is pretty fantastic. They've also added a laugh track for the scenes where Regan teases Father Karras by opening the nightstand drawers and spits pea soup on him. They get an A+ for adding vintage commercials. The whole thing is twisted good fun, so check out the clip, and let us know what you think. [Spotted via BuzzFeed]
Screen Junkies came up with this "honest" Paranormal Activity trailer, which definitely makes it clear what side of the supernatural fence they're on, and it doesn't leave room for "handheld crap" and a "cheaper, less interesting version of The Blair Witch Project." Some of it feels a little mean spirited — like the digs on people's looks — but we can't disagree with a lot of what they're saying. An entire generation of moviegoers is indeed being "terrified by a marketing department." We like where Paranormal Activity started, but it's definitely evolved into a monster.
Winter is coming! That's good enough reason for us to stay inside with a mountain of movies through the New Year. This 2010 SXSW Midnight Bumper — part of the Austin festival's genre offerings — comes from Joe Nicolosi, and it's called Stay Indoors. Why complicate life by risking zombie attacks during your crisp, fall walks in the forest? Everything that could possibly go wrong for one woman who wants to spend the day hanging out does. It reminds us of a nicer version of I Spit on Your Grave.
