With Halloween just a few days away, it’s the perfect time of year to celebrate some of our darkest filmmakers. If you’ve been following along at home, you no doubt realize that we’ve been running a series on Horror’s Most Influential Filmmakers here at Movies.com for the past week or so – and while it’s great to hear our staff’s personal takes on directors like John Carpenter, David Cronenberg and Alfred Hitchcock, it’s also nice to hear straight from the filmmakers themselves.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a ghoulishly delightful series of video interviews with the aforementioned filmmakers. Watch as Hitchcock conducts master classes in creating tension and making exposition more palatable for an audience (we can think of tons of Hollywood filmmakers working today who could learn a thing or two from these clips. We’ll not name any names, though), as Carpenter talks about his career in film, and a three-part piece with David Cronenberg.
Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a lifelong horror geek, or just a movie fan looking to get into the holiday spirit, these clips are well worth watching. When you're done here, be sure to get caught up on our Most Influential Horror Filmmakers series here at the site.
