'Hercules' Trailer: Watch Dwayne Johnson Battle a Three-Headed Hellhound

Jun 03, 2014

This is the year of Hercules with Summit Entertainment's The Legend of Hercules in theaters earlier in 2014 and Brett Ratner's Hercules arriving next month. We have a trailer for that film, starring  Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the eponymous hero. The film is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, but the son of Zeus has been a familiar figure in film for decades.

It looks like Ratner's version is heavy on the beasties, as we're treated to a glimpse of a vicious Cerberus almost immediately. That's the three-headed hellhound who guards the underworld. The film follows Hercules, who has endured his legendary 12 labors. The King of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules' help in defeating a warlord, and his skills are put to the test.

If hulking men at battle and mythological monsters aren't enough to get you in a theater seat, then we have three other reasons you should see Hercules on July 25: Ian McShane, Ian McShane, Ian McShane.
