Hear Batman's New Theme From 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

Feb 05, 2016

When you think of Batman, you may hear any number of theme songs in your head. Perhaps it's the nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah of the 1960s TV series. Maybe it's Danny Elfman's majestically eerie music of Tim Burton's version (or Prince's "Batdance" from the same movie). Or the tribal drumming of Hans Zimmer's Dark Knight trilogy score.

Well, now there's a new Batman hitting the big screen with a whole new theme. And this one has lot of pounding drums, too. Interestingly enough, though, while much of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice score is also composed by Zimmer, the new music for the Caped Crusader is by Junkie XL, who is also known for featuring tribal drum sounds in his scores (see Mad Max: Fury Road).

Check out the track "Men Are Still Good (The Batman Suite)" below.

It makes sense that Zack Snyder would get someone new for Batman's new sound, given that Zimmer had already been there, done that with Batman. But Zimmer also scored Man of Steel, so he was brought back to at least continue Superman's themes. It's actually pretty cool to have giant iconic characters scored by different composers in a movie pitting them against each other like this.

But then should Wonder Woman also get her own composer, too?

Listen to another track from the Batman v Superman score, titled "Their War Here":
