Head of the Pack: Wolverine Gets Upgraded

Sep 15, 2009

Hugh Jackman fans will have plenty to howl about when Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in stores today. If you want to go all-out, the action-packed origin story of the indestructible hero with those lethal metal claws comes packaged with a metallic Wolverine bust in a limited-edition, Blu-ray-only gift set, sold exclusively at Best Buy. The Blu-ray version also features the debut of one new sharp feature that should become commonplace on future BDs: Live Lookup. Director Gavin Hood and producer Lauren Shuler Donner sang the praises of Blu-ray at a press conference on the Fox lot last week and demonstrated for the first time how this BD Live feature will work. Let’s say you are so fired up by watching Alpha male Jackman muscle his way through Wolverine that you just can’t wait until the movie is over to find out what other films feature his irresistible charisma and heaving man-shelf. With Live Lookup you are able to connect online to the IMDb while watching the movie and get current information about all of his projects. The data is stored in the player’s memory so you can handily recall the information and make a note that you’ve got to get a hold of Van Helsing pronto, even after you press eject. The BD also features “Wolverine Weapon X Mutant Files Featurette: 10 Character Chronicles,” a trivia track and more. Be sure to watch the alternate tag scene included on both the DVD and BD versions for a big hint about which country Jackman will sink his claws into in the planned sequel. Hint: do you think those blades can double for chopsticks?
