The Hunger Games' trident-wielding victor who befriends Katniss Everdeen after she is forced to return to the arena, Finnick Odair, will play a significant role in Lionsgate's upcoming sequel, Catching Fire. Francis Lawrence directs the second part in the futuristic saga, and E Online is reporting that the studio has zeroed in on three potential players to wear Finnick's golden net.
Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund are all being considered for the role, which execs hope to finalize this week. Word also has it that the studio is considering unknown actors, but with the first film sporting an impressive ensemble cast, we're guessing they're sticking with one of the three aforementioned fellas. There was a recent rumor that Twilight's Rob Pattinson was in talks for the part, but he confirmed the chatter wasn't true.
Hammer's upcoming roles include the title part in Johnny Depp's Lone Ranger movie. Hedlund — of recent Tron Legacy fame — made his Cannes appearance in On the Road with Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst. Kitsch can currently be seen in board game adaptation Battleship. Who can fill Finnick's spot in the game? Let us know if you have better casting ideas for the second installment below.
