Harry Potter Director to Remake the Awesome Norwegian Gem Trollhunter

Harry Potter Director to Remake the Awesome Norwegian Gem Trollhunter

Jun 10, 2011

Every year at Fantastic Fest, the US' coolest (and largest) film festival devoted strictly to genre movies from around the world, there are several Secret Screenings in addition to the already impressive lineup of films.  Last year one of these screenings was the world premiere of a movie that barely anyone even knew existed; a Norwegian mockumentary about a guy who hunts real life trolls for a living, aptly titled Trollhunter.

Having been at that screening, I can tell you that it blew the roof off the Alamo Drafthouse.  No one knew what to expect going in and everyone walked away knowing they had just seen something special.  Apparently Chris Columbus (director of the first two Harry Potter films) would agree; his 1492 Pictures has just signed a deal for the remake rights to this truly unique "found footage" movie.  It's unclear if Columbus himself will direct (he's currently attached to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters), but he has hired Marc Haimes to write the script.

And while we're pulling for Columbus to produce a remake that does justice to the original, there is absolutely no reason you need to wait to experience this wild and weird story.  Thanks to Magnet Releasing, you can see Trollhunter this very day on your VOD platform of choice.
